Affiliate Programs!
ClickTrade, getting paid to advertise on your site!

There are literally thousands of different affiliate programs on the net today, each with their own set of tools and requirements. While the basic idea is profit for all, there are many details that can make your Affiliate experience efficient and profitable -- or exhausting, time consuming and disappointing.

Click to view Terms and Definitions for Affiliate Programs. *NOTE: Affiliate Programs are usually BEST suited for sites that get at least 100-200 unique visitors a day.

Affiliate Program - is a compensation system whereby merchants of all varieties reward entrepreneurial webmasters for advertising the merchant's product or introducing customers to the merchant. Other names for these programs; associate programs, revenue-sharing programs, referral programs, or partnership programs.

You put a banner or text link on your Web site. Your visitor clicks on this link and is transferred to the vendor's Web site. If the visitor buys a product the vendor pays you a commission.

There are a number of systems used to reward webmasters, these include; Percentage of sale introduced. Fixed fee per sale. Fixed fee plus a percentage of sale. Pay per view. Pay per click. Some merchants have tier systems.

Most programs require you to have a website already on line, and ready to be reviewed, before acceptance into their program. Some programs require you to own your own domain... in other words - no free host website servers.

Affiliate Programs:

Amazon.com - How Does the Amazon.com Associates Program Work? Amazon.com Associates is free to join and easy to use. As an Associate, you simply place links to Amazon.com on your Web site. Each time a visitor clicks from your site to Amazon.com to purchase items, you earn generous referral fees. We take care of their entire shopping experience: fulfillment, customer service, and shipping, and we track the sales generated from your site. All you have to do is decide how you want to link to Amazon.com.

Recommendations:

Think carefully before joining a long list of Affiliate Programs, even if you have several websites (unless you have a full time employee to manage them!).

It is better to join 1 to 3 Bigger Programs that offer links to multiple businesses. All programs require a minimum amount of earnings to collect a check... at least 25 - 50 dollars, depending upon the program. When you earn 2.00 in one program and .50 in another, 5.00 in another, you spread yourself thin and may not get paid for many months. Some programs have per month traffic requirements (and page view limits), some do not. It is usually recommended that you have around 500 visitors a month to your web site. Depending upon your visitors, you may earn a lot of money with fewer visitors, or less money with a large number of visitors.

*** Find out who your visitors ARE!! What are their interests? What will they will respond to when you ad advertising to your site?! If your visitor base is specialized, marketing specialized links or products to them maybe very lucrative. If your audience is general, offering a variety of links and changing them often. Sometimes the only way to know who your audience is is to test them, (always use statistics/counters on your site!) Put of a link/s and see how your visitors respond, experiment!

Features to Look For:

Features to look for in a good Affiliate Program:

  1. No Spam Policy. Privacy Policy - The company needs to ensure your details are not sold on or published in any form.
  2. Proper Payout - As an affiliate your check amount must be determined in a clear way without any ambiguities.
  3. Prompt Payout - The payment must be made when it is supposed to be made.
  4. Rollover minimums - It is common for programs to have a minimum commission amount before you get paid. This is done because of the administration costs. Avoid companies that set the amount back to zero in any given time period if you don't make it.
  5. Online Stats - The affiliate company MUST have an accurate online tracking system. This should be confidentially available to individual members on a 24 hour basis.
  6. Principal Percentage - The minimum Payout percentage should not be less than 6-7% of the Sale Value.
  7. Product Quality - The company must sell a reputable product with a guarantee and moneyback policy.
  8. Support.-. Affiliates need the companies support in providing link and graphic materials. This is also required for queries.
