The
Office of Instructional Technology relies on a cooperative approach.
Two principles are considered to be essential for a healthy
and a successful implementation of advanced Instructional Technologies:
The
role of the Office of Instructional Technology is to lead
the academic community towards an understanding of technology
as
“more than the sum of its parts. It is a systematic
way of designing, carrying out, and evaluating the total
process of learning and teaching in terms of specific
objectives, based on research in human learning and communication,
and employing a combination of human and non-human resources
to bring about more effective instruction.”
The
Office of Instructional Technology has as its mission to coordinate
and facilitate access to human and non-human resources of different
departments of the university and the community. Members of the
academic community ought to be actively involved in the elaboration
of the various methods of instruction in combination with the
appropriate media. The initiatives of faculty, staff, and students
are considered seminal to the task of learning and instruction.
